Anopheles Mosquitoes
The Anopheles mosquito is often referred to as the malaria mosquito because it’s known to transmit the disease. This mosquito can also cause heartworms in dogs. They are usually black or dark brown in color with spotted wings. When they land on you, they rest and feed at a 45-degree angle. Anopheles mosquitoes are active from dusk until dawn and prefer humid, marshy areas, but any stagnant water will do.
